What is Rhinoplasty, problems and controversies. Edited by Thomas Rees, Daniel Baker, Nicolas Tabbal. C.V. Mosby Company, St. Louis, Missouri, 1988, 434 pp, $85.00 about?
Rhinoplasty, Problems and Controversies, edited by Rees, Baker and Tabbal is a 434page compendium of personal experiences in rhinoplasty by 20 contributors, some facial plastic surgeons and the rest with general plastic surgery backgrounds. The book is divided into 14 parts, each representing a specific aspect of rhinoplasty (e.g., tip, osteotomies, airway, crooked nose, complications, etc.) and each part having several contributors on the particular subject. The format of each section usually consists of two or more chapters of varied length on the same topic written by several surgeons, followed by a "point and counterpoint discussion" in a concluding chapter. An interesting and somewhat unique method of compiling a book, it cannot, however, be considered a textbook reference or a monograph. It is definitely not written for the beginner in rhinoplasty but for the student who has a moderate amount of experience with this
