What is Year 7 Optional Maths SATs Guide about?

This document provides guidance for teachers administering the Year 7 optional mathematics tests in a formal way to obtain a national curriculum level for each student. It describes the structure of the two 60-minute tests (Paper 1 non-calculator, Paper 2 calculator-allowed), the equipment needed, timing, and introducing the tests to students. The goal is to support teacher assessment through a structured approach that yields evidence about student strengths and weaknesses.
