The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has revised the standards for chocolate to: 1. Permit the use of up to 5% vegetable fat other than cocoa butter in chocolate products, in line with international standards. 2. Prescribe labeling requirements for chocolate containing vegetable fat. 3. Add standards for two new types of chocolate: Praline chocolate and Couverture chocolate. These revised regulations will come into effect from January 1, 2018 to allow food businesses time to comply.
