About this document

Magdeburg Hemispheres Experiment Overview by christian.gerhard.fischer is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The Magdeburg hemispheres are large copper hemispheres used in a 1654 experiment by Otto von Guericke to demonstrate atmospheric pressure, where teams of horses could not separate them when a vacuum was created inside. The experiment illustrated the strength of air pressure and became a popular educational tool, with reenactments still performed today. The original hemispheres are displayed in the Deutsches Museum in Munich, and the experiment also symbolized the recovery of Magdeburg after the Thirty Years
