Ibn Kathir al-Makki was an early transmitter of one of the seven canonical methods of reciting the Quran who lived in Mecca during the 7th-8th centuries CE. He learned his method of recitation from students of companions of the Prophet Muhammad. His method was popular in Mecca and preferred by the founder of one school of Islamic law. He met and learned from early Islamic scholars and transmitted his method of recitation to later scholars.
