Kapitan Pattimura was a hero from South Maluku who fought against Dutch colonialism in the early 19th century. He was born in 1783 to a noble family with the name Thomas Matulessy. Pattimura previously served in the British army but fought the Dutch after they defeated the British in 1816. He led Maluku forces in seizing a Dutch fort in 1817. Pattimura
