What is Soulmate Trope in Danmei Literature about?

This paper examines the soulmate trope in danmei literature, highlighting its roots in Chinese cultural cosmology and its reimagining through queer narratives. It argues that these narratives serve as both romantic ideals and queer allegories, reflecting themes of reincarnation and karmic ties. Ultimately, the soulmate trope in danmei literature offers a transformative vision of queer love that transcends time and societal constraints.
