Can I read Diimidoesters: Role in electron and light microscopy on EtoBox?

Diimidoesters: Role in electron and light microscopy by Margaret Tzaphlidou; Demetrios P. Matthopoulos is a Materials Science article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Diimidoesters: Role in electron and light microscopy about?

Diimidoesters are a class of bifunctional reagents which cross-link by reacting with a-and v-amino groups of proteins. The structure and properties ofthese reagents as well as their reaction with proteins or cells are described. The importance ofthe type and concentration ofthe buffer and ofthe pH as well as the osmolarity and penetration of these fixatives are discussed. Possible artifacts produced during fixation and the use of diimidoesters in enzyme cytochemistry and immunocytochemistry are also reported. A comparison ofthe crosslinking and structures obtained by dumidoesters with those obtained by aldehydes is stated.
