What is Lidocaine about?

The study tested the effects of lidocaine on Daphnia heart rate. Lidocaine is known to block sodium channels and decrease heart contractions. The results showed that Daphnia exposed to lidocaine had significantly lower heart rates compared to those in spring water alone. On average, heart rates decreased over 20% when exposed to lidocaine. These findings support the hypothesis that lidocaine decreases Daphnia heart rate by blocking sodium channels in heart muscle cells.
