About this document
Understanding Bentham by Sana Younas is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Utilitarianism is a theory of ethics that advocates actions that maximize happiness and minimize unhappiness. It holds that an action is right if it promotes the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Utilitarianism aims to benefit society as a whole and says an action is right if it results in the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people affected. However, utilitarianism has limitations in accounting for individual rights, justice, and uncertainty around consequences of actions.
