What is Application of English Commercial Law in Malaysia about?

English commercial law from 1956 applies in Malaysia in the absence of local legislation according to Section 5(1) of the Civil Law Act. Section 5(2) states that English commercial law shall apply to matters in Penang, Malacca, Sabah, and Sarawak as it would in England. However, there is no total reliance on English commercial law today in Malaysia due to many local commercial laws that have been passed.
