What is Metformin about?
The study tested whether metformin could reduce left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with coronary artery disease without diabetes but with insulin resistance or prediabetes. 68 patients were randomly assigned to receive metformin or a placebo for 12 months. Metformin treatment significantly reduced left ventricular mass and other measures like blood pressure and body weight compared to the placebo.
