1. The students examined onion bulb cells and human cheek cells under microscopes at 100x and 400x magnification. 2. They observed that onion cells have a brick-like shape while cheek cells have no defined shape. Onion cells also lacked chloroplasts since they develop underground without sunlight. 3. The students had difficulties focusing the microscopes and adjusting the light levels but eventually were able to clearly see the cell structures after practice.
