The City of Chicago Department of Aviation spent $309 million total on minority and women-owned business enterprise (M/WBE) contracts between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016. African American-owned businesses received $39 million or 13% of the total spent, while women-owned businesses received $23 million or 8% of the total spent. In total, $108 million or 35% of contract spending went to minority-owned businesses.
