About this document
Overview of Pharmacology and Drug Sources by Chrystal Faith Cerbo is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Pharmacology is the study of drugs, their sources, their nature, and their properties. It emerged as a major area in American medicine largely due to the efforts of John Jacob Abel who stressed the importance of chemistry in medicine and became the first pharmacology professor in the U.S. Drugs are substances used for diagnosis, disease prevention and treatment, contraception, and maintaining optimal health. There are four main sources of drugs: natural, semisynthetic, synthetic, and biotechnology.
