There are two types of barriers to technology integration in the classroom: first-order (external) barriers relating to access, time, and professional development, and second-order (internal) barriers relating to beliefs, vision, and experience. These barriers can be overcome by allowing teachers to help lead the integration process, providing peer coaching and informal discussion to increase teacher support, and conducting a needs assessment and goal analysis before implementing new technologies.
