This document provides instructions for building a circuit that can be used to locate hidden mains wiring by following the humming sound it detects. The circuit is an audio amplifier with three transistors as its first and second stages. It uses a copper wire antenna and headphones or piezoelectric beeper to detect electromagnetic interference from wiring. Moving the antenna along walls and ceilings will produce a maximum humming sound exactly over any hidden mains wiring.
