This paper investigates the performance of a Cost Effective 4-switch 3-phase inverter fed IM drive. Most of the reported works on 4S3P inverter for motor drives did not as yet consider the closed loop vector control scheme. The 4 switches make the inverter less costly, less switching losses, less chances of destroying the switches due to lesser interaction among switches.
