What is The Way It Ends about?

What if the man you loved became a monster?Former college professor Tom Wolsieffer has claimed land in Kenton, Oklahoma, for himself. Brimming with the followers of his self-help book, The Way, his newly developed compound draws the ire of its neighbors. When push comes to shove, shots ring out.Nine months pregnant with a bullet buried in her shoulder, Birdie Hauer clings to life in the upstairs bedroom of Tom's house. Tom refuses to let Birdie leave, forcing his wife Vanessa to take care of her despite the intense resentment she feels for the woman carrying her husband's baby. As Tom avoids reality, the FBI closes in.Investigative journalist Ione Larsen has done her best to forget the ill-advised affair with a professor that destroyed her and the only real friendship she'd ever known. When she sees Birdie's face on her television, she knows she has to get onto Tom's ranch by whatever means necessary. Even if that means facing the man himself. Behind the walls of Tom Wolsieffer's compound a line is drawn in the clay soil between the past and the present.Choose a side.
