Example 1 shows that if a reactor is doubled in size but other parameters are kept the same, particle conversion increases from 80% to 100%. Example 2 calculates (1) the residence time needed for 100% conversion of mixed particle sizes and (2) the mean conversion of 27% for a 15 minute residence time when chemical reaction is the controlling mechanism.
