What is Seismic Control with Nonlinear Dampers about?

This paper compares the seismic response of one-story, one-way asymmetric building systems with supplemental linear and nonlinear fluid viscous damping. It is shown that damper nonlinearity leads to minor to moderate reduction in system responses, except for very short-period nonlinear systems where edge deformations and base torque can be significantly reduced. Furthermore, the reduction in damper forces due to nonlinearity is not significant.
