This study investigates the association between major depressive disorder (MDD) and antibiotic use using data from the National Health Insurance claims in South Korea. It finds that patients with MDD are 1.31 times more likely to receive antibiotic prescriptions, have 1.25 times more prescription days, and incur 1.39 times higher antibiotic costs compared to those without MDD.
