What is Jack London about?
The story follows a man traveling alone through the Yukon on a bitterly cold day. Despite warnings from others not to travel alone in such extreme conditions, the man presses on. However, after falling through ice into a stream and getting his feet wet, he is unable to successfully start a fire to dry himself. As hypothermia sets in, he realizes too late that he will freeze to death without help. The dog that had been following him leaves to seek food and shelter, as the man peacefully accepts his fate.
