What is Wauba Debar: Heroic Aboriginal Woman about?

Wauba Debar was an Aboriginal Tasmanian woman who in 1792 rescued her husband and another sealer when their ship wrecked near shore during a storm. She helped them safely to shore despite strong winds and waves. Wauba Debar had been kidnapped as a teenager by sealers and became one of their sexual partners. She was a strong swimmer who later died in a boating accident and locals memorialized her heroic rescue by erecting a headstone at her grave site, which overlooks bays and harbors named after her.
