Sura was a shark and Baya was a crocodile that lived in the sea. One day, they fought over a goat they both wanted to eat. After many hours of fighting, they agreed to live in separate areas, with the beach as the border. However, Sura later broke the agreement by going onto land when he was hungry. This caused another fight between Sura and Baya. They bit each other hard before Sura retreated back to the sea. The area then became known as Surabaya.
