What is Managing EHP in Vannamei Shrimp Farming about?

This document provides an advisory on managing Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) microsporidian infections in vannamei shrimp farming. EHP is an obligate intracellular parasite first reported in tiger shrimp in 2009 in Thailand. It affects the hepatopancreas of shrimp and can cause growth retardation. There are currently no drugs to control EHP. Proper management practices and biosecurity are needed to prevent its spread to shrimp farms. Detection methods include microscopic examination and PCR techniques.
