About this document
Overcurrent Relay Types and Settings by Karthick Rathinasamy is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Overcurrent relays are commonly used to protect power system lines, transformers, generators and motors. There are three main types of overcurrent relays based on operating time characteristics: instantaneous, time-dependent, and mixed. Time-dependent relays can be definite time or inverse time relays. Inverse time relays have time delays that vary inversely with the magnitude of the fault current. Mixed or IDMT relays combine features of instantaneous, definite time, and inverse time relays.
