Sukha and Jinda wrote a letter to the President of India before their execution for killing General Vaidya. They saw General Vaidya as responsible for the attack on the Golden Temple during Operation Blue Star. They believed they were fighting for an independent Sikh homeland of Khalistan. They did not see the Indian state as their nation but as oppressive. They were proud to accept death for their actions in support of the Sikh faith and people.
