Can I read A Substrate Effect on the Catalytic Activity of Electrodeposited Platinum Layers on EtoBox?

A Substrate Effect on the Catalytic Activity of Electrodeposited Platinum Layers by Jiang Lin-Cai; Derek Pletcher is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.

What is A Substrate Effect on the Catalytic Activity of Electrodeposited Platinum Layers about?

The electrodeposition of platinum onto vitreous carbon and gold from a K2PtCI4/H2SO 4 bath has been studied. The catalytic activity of such platinum deposits, equivalent to a few monolayers, have been tested and shown not to be the same. Deposits on carbon do not show characteristic hydrogen adsorption until quite thick layers of platinum have been formed while on gold, even thin deposits show normal behaviour. Moreover, small platinum centres on gold are unusually active for formic acid oxidation but those on carbon show no activity.
