About this document

Augustus: Rise to Power Overview by lozierwyatt is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The balance of power in Rome shifted as Lepidus was stripped of his political powers after a failed attack on Augustus, who then sought to defeat Mark Antony. Augustus declared war on Cleopatra, leading to the Battle of Actium and the eventual suicides of Antony and Cleopatra, allowing Augustus to establish the Roman Principate. He appointed his stepson Tiberius as his heir and died on August 19, 14 AD, after years of consolidating power among his relatives and friends.
