What is Node B and RNC Functions Explained about?
The RNC handles most radio interface functions except physical transmission and reception and some MAC functions which are handled by the Node B. The RNC connects to the core network through the Iu interface and establishes, maintains and releases connections for user equipment to access UMTS services. The RNC can also connect to GERAN networks through the Iur-g interface to allow interworking between UMTS and GSM networks.
