What is Pitting Edema Grading Scale Overview about?

The Pitting Edema Grading Scale measures the severity of edema based on the depth of indentation from pressing on the skin and how quickly the indentation disappears. A grade of 1+ indicates mild edema where indentation barely detects at 2mm and disappears rapidly. A grade of 2+ represents moderate edema where indentation is less than 5mm and disappears within 10-15 seconds. A grade of 3+ or 4+ signifies more severe edema, where the indentation is 5mm or more and may last over a minute to disappear complete
