What is Shear Building Mass & Stiffness Estimation about?
This paper presents a method to estimate mass and stiffness matrices of shear buildings from limited modal test data. The method uses only the first two modes measured at sensor points, which are fewer than the total degrees of freedom of the structure. It evaluates unmeasured modal data based on the measured data. Then it obtains the global mass and stiffness matrices through an iterative process to find the optimum matrices. An example application demonstrates the reliability of the method.
