This case study describes the recovery of a patient named J.W. from coma after a traumatic brain injury. Originally, J.W. had a devastating prognosis due to factors like a low Glasgow Coma Scale score of 4, fixed and dilated pupils, decerebrate rigidity, brain edema and bleeding seen on CT scans. However, with continuing treatment and rehabilitation, J.W. was able to improve greatly and achieve a high level of independence, showing the potential for hidden recovery even when prognosis is very poor based on
