What is Token Ring Network Overview and Features about?

Token Ring was developed by IBM in the 1980s and uses either ring or star topologies. It uses token passing to regulate access to the network, passing a special frame called a token between stations to avoid collisions. FDDI is an improved version of Token Ring that uses fiber optic cable and dual counter-rotating rings to provide backup in case of a break. Ethernet also uses CSMA/CD to regulate access but is based on bus topology rather than ring.
