What is Aerodynamic Study of NACA Inlets about?
This thesis investigates the aerodynamic efficiency and drag of different ramp angles for a NACA air inlet using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Four ramp angles were simulated: 4, 7, 10, and 15 degrees. The 7 degree ramp was also simulated at different velocities and Reynolds numbers. The inlet efficiency from this study fell between previous CFD and experimental investigations. A ramp angle of 7 degrees performed best for lower mass flows, while 10 and 15 degrees were preferred at higher mass flows. L
