Ancient Egypt had three seasons: Akhet, from July to December, when the Nile flooded and farmers worked for the pharaoh building pyramids; Peret, from October to February, when farmers planted crops which began to grow; and Shemu, from May to September, the harvest season when crops were cut down before the next flood.
