What is Narmada Bachao Andolan Overview about?

The Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) is a social movement initiated by Medha Patkar in the 1980s to oppose the Sardar Sarovar Dam project, advocating for the rights of affected communities, environmental protection, and transparency. The movement employs non-violent protests, hunger strikes, and legal actions to delay dam construction and raise awareness about its impacts. NBA aims to empower local communities and promote sustainable alternatives to large-scale dam projects.
