What is Overview of PM-KUSUM Scheme about?

The PM-KUSUM scheme was launched in 2019 by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy with an initial budget of Rs. 34,000 crore. The scheme aims to add 30.8 GW of solar capacity by 2022 through three components: decentralized ground-mounted solar power plants, standalone off-grid solar pumps to replace diesel pumps, and solarizing existing grid-connected pumps. While over 280,000 standalone pumps have been installed, components A and C which involve larger solar power plants are yet to be fully implemented
