Vinca alkaloids are compounds derived from the Madagascar periwinkle plant. There are four major vinca alkaloids used clinically: vinblastine, vinorelbine, vincristine, and vindesine. They work by binding to tubulin and disrupting microtubule function, which arrests cell division in metaphase and causes cell death.
