What is Correctional Officers about?

This study examined how correctional officers experience emotions while on the job through a phenomenological study using an anonymous online survey. The survey collected responses from 23 correctional officers in California about their felt and expressed emotions during shifts. The findings showed that officers frequently reported feelings of anxiety during shifts and a disconnect between felt and expressed emotions while at work. These findings could help reform training programs to better support officer
