What is Overview of the Respiratory System about?

The respiratory system provides oxygen to cells and removes carbon dioxide. It has two sections - the upper respiratory tract which includes the nose, mouth, larynx and trachea to warm and filter air, and the lower respiratory tract within the lungs including bronchial tubes, alveoli and diaphragm. The bronchial tubes branch into smaller tubes ending in alveoli where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide leaves. The diaphragm helps inhale by moving down and exhale by moving up.
