An accumulator drill verifies that the accumulator/closing system is properly sized and functioning for the blowout preventer stack. It checks that all blowout preventers can close within 30 seconds with at least 1500 psi remaining in the 3000 psi accumulator. The drill supervisor and toolpusher must witness the drill, which involves closing each preventer and measuring closing times and final pressures. Drills must be done when the drill pipe is in the casing.
