What is 281. Can Non-Hoarding Specific Markers of Problems in Mental Health Predict Populations at Risk of Compulsive Hoarding? about?
Background: Hoarding disorder (HD) is characterized by difficulty discarding seemingly useless objects, leading to the accumulation of clutter and impairment in daily living. Despite its addition in the latest version of the DSM, it remains poorly recognized even among clinicians. Of particular interest is the identification of features that could suggest to a clinician that a person who presents with problems in specific domains of cognition and other mental health problems should be further assessed for HD more specifically. Methods: We leveraged the Brain Health Registry (BHR), an online registry of adults (N1⁄414,833) focused on mental health and aging together with methods from statistics and machine learning such as random forests and neural networks to find non-hoarding specific features (such as self-reported problems in executive function, medical and psychiatric history, PHQ-9, etc.) that can predict hoarding status based on the hoarding rating scale-self report. Results: Our models so far have reached reasonable performance (ROC AUC >1⁄40.8, stratified 5 fold-validation) for detecting severe hoarding. Our preliminary analyses of the features also suggest that self-reporte
