What is Acoustic Streaming-assisted Two-photon Polymerization Process for the Production of Multimaterial Microstructures about?
Multimaterial microstructures have a lot of potential in various applications, including miniature devices for droplet control, owing to their tunable and unique hydrodynamic properties. However, challenges remain in current microfabrication techniques as they rely on surface modification or a combination of two or more techniques, with minimal control over the resolution and accuracy of multimaterial patterns. As the accuracy and uniformity of multimaterial patterns play a vital role in hydrodynamic applications, the current manufacturing techniques inhibit their full potential. This study aims to establish a new microfabrication strategy, acoustic streaming-assisted two-photon polymerization (AS-TPP), for fabricating miniaturized devices with locally-controlled multimaterial patterns. The research utilizes acoustic streaming integrated with TPP to pattern hydrophilic nanoparticles with micro/nanoscale resolutions within a hydrophobic polymer. The AS-TPP technique could manipulate the wettability of printed surfaces to achieve intelligent and accurate liquid control. The geometric accuracy and material composition of the parts printed by AS-TPP were characterized using scanning el
