What is Fermentation and Citric Acid Cycle Overview about?
Fermentation is an anaerobic pathway that breaks down glucose using glycolysis with one or two extra reactions. It begins the same as cellular respiration with glycolysis, but the pyruvate produced does not go through the citric acid cycle or electron transport chain. The purpose of the extra reactions is to regenerate NAD+ from NADH produced in glycolysis so that glycolysis can continue.
