What is Biodiesel Production from Sesame Oil about?

This study investigated sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) seed as a potential feedstock for biodiesel production. Sesame seed oil was extracted from seeds grown in Turkey, yielding 58% oil. The seed oil was then transesterified using methanol and sodium hydroxide catalyst to produce biodiesel. The properties of the sesame seed oil and resulting biodiesel were analyzed and found to meet ASTM and EN biodiesel standards, demonstrating the viability of sesame seed oil as an alternative feedstock for biodiesel fuel.
