Action of Chemical Reducing Agents on the Stability of Thiazyl Cycles by Dr. H. Vincent; Y. Monteil; M. P. Berthet is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Action of Chemical Reducing Agents on the Stability of Thiazyl Cycles about?

an C.N.R.S. A b s t r a ct. The stability of the different, thiazyl hnlogenides was studied in presence of reducing agents: polar solvents and HBr. The solubilities of S,K,C12 and S,N,Cl, are weak. The polar solvents SOCI,, SO, liquid aiid HCOOH are the best solvents. but we have shown t>here was always interaction between thiazyl chlorides and the solvent used. The nuiin react, ion occured wit,h destruction of the init, ial cycle and formation of the Sfis,'' or S,N3+ cycles. HBr reacts on S,N,CI,. S,N,CI, aiid S,N,Cl, to give substitution reactions with HCl emission. 8,S,Br is obtained from S,N,CI, a t -80°C: at higher temperature, the reaction is more complex niid S,N,Br obtained by this way is impure. With the other thiazyl chlorides, the reaction is violent ;it all temperatures, t>he t,hiazyl cycle is destroyed, and S,N,Br or S,N,Br, is formed.
