The hymn describes a battle between King Sudas of the Bharatas against 21 kings from various tribes. With the help of Indra and the Marutas, Sudas was able to defeat the kings and drive them out. Indra used his lightning bolts to kill many of the enemies and cause floods that drowned others, including over 6,000 famous warriors. As a result of the victory, Sudas gained control of the defeated tribes
