What is Atmospheric Pressure and Altitude Effects about?
Atmospheric pressure decreases exponentially with increasing altitude due to less air above a given surface. Pressure is approximately 1013 hPa at sea level and decreases to 0 hPa in space. Temperature decreases with altitude in the troposphere but increases in the stratosphere and decreases again in the mesosphere and thermosphere. Atmospheric pressure can be estimated using an exponential decay formula that takes into account sea level pressure, altitude, and a scale height constant.
